TNGHT (Hudson Mohawke x Lunice) - Chimes (Live)

Hudson Mohawke and Lunice show-off their new track, "Chimes", at the Trans Musicales 2012 Festival. It is every bit as epic as we are used to hearing from these two creative producers.

Bjork - Mutual Core

Director, Andrew Thomas Huang worked with legendary vocalist, Bjork, on this visual and audible genius creation. If you know anything about Bjork you could already tell that this track is slightly better than what one would call "normal".

Kendrick Lamar - The Heart Pt. 3 (Will You Let Hip Hop Die?)

I have been a follower for two years now and have witnessed this man take over hip hop. I knew he was going to be a legend in the industry and is proving it with every release. Today is a big day for Kendrick. It is the day before he releases his debut album, "good kid, m.A.A.d city". With the world watching, Kendrick recorded and released this song on October 20th to whet our appetites. "Will you let hip hop die on October 22nd?"

Freelance Whales - Spitting Image

Queens, NY's Freelance Whales, just released their sophomore album, "Diluvia" on October 9th. "Spitting Image" is currently my favorite track from the album so far but I have many a' more listens left before I can be sure. The indie rock band added a bit more of a modest electronic feel to their music that wasn't present their first time around. Check it out

Disclosure - Latch Feat. Sam Smith

Disclosure just released possibly their biggest single, "Latch" on October 9th. It was released 3 days ago and is already reaching top spots on charts around the world. Download "Latch" below.

Nero - Won't You (Be There)

I am currently in a stage of my musical tastes that resides much after my peaked interest in dubstep and is currently on a rapid decline. With that being said, my circle of following for this genre has withered to only a few artists and Nero is one of them. This is a brand new track by the London duo called "Won't Be" and it could not have come at a better time to re-ignite my passion for the step that is called dub.

Flume - Sleepless Ft. Jezzabell Doran

With a drum pattern that will force you to nod your head and a perfectly glitched vocal track that will give you chills, the video for Sleepless has finally been released. Harley Streten aka Flume has built up quite the playlist of download worthy songs and remixes over the past year. This Sydney-based producer is creating such work at only 19 years of age and is only getting started.

Ango - Paralyzed

LuckyMe Records is 100% completely full of nothing but talented artists that are changing music. It's unfortunate that the world isn't watching. Andrew Gordon, known as Ango released this single around 2 months ago from his album, "Another City Now".

Van She - Jamaica

I have seen Van She's name tossed around the internet for some time and I suppose I have never gave them a shot until now. Jamaica is their second single from the album, "Idea of Happiness".

Crystal Castles - Plague

It has been a minute since I have been fortunate enough to listen to some new Crystal Castles. Alice gears up for the new album due out in September with this dungeon-like banger featuring distant vocals. Perhaps their album will be self-titled for the third time in a row?

Angel - Wonderful

Kastle - Stay Forever

This Pittsburgh Dubstep Producer/DJ has been blowing up recently during his tour and performances at music festivals. I was fortunate to catch him after his show in St. Louis. Check out his brand new music video for "Stay Forever".

XXYYXX - About You

16 year old musical prodigy, Marcel Everett started as a guitarist for local rock bands. He began working on bedroom projects until he realized that it was his passion. Now Marcel named himself XXYYXX and is signed with Relief in Abstract. This is my favorite track although I have many favorites. Also buy his self-titled album below if you can afford it. It's $1 Amarie

ARTIST: Purity Ring

This duo from Canada is a new talent that I have been very excited about this year. Purity Ring is set to release their debut album Shrines on July 23rd. Every few weeks they wrench out a new single and they have yet to disappoint me. Lofticries is the first single that I listened to of theirs months back.

Temper Trap - Trembling Hands

The Australian indie band lead by vocalist Dougy Mandagi is finally on the horizon of recognition with their second album which is self-titled. Trembling Hands is their second single on the new album. The video (Shot in Cuba) shows the efforts of a struggling gymnast who is training with a partner for the high rope swing. The drumline is paired perfectly with a reverbed distant vocal track that adds so much richness to the chorus. This is a beautiful song that will be in my iPod's most played tracks within the next week.

SONG: Mr. FijiWiji ft. CoMa - Apathy

I came across this track while I was half asleep in bed and browsing through random songs of artists that I follow on Soundcloud. I listened to it, favorited it and then listened to it again but this time with concentration. The song connected with me so perfectly I could feel the emotions in the lyrics and the vocal track. "Apathy" is possibly one of the most beautiful tracks that I have ever heard. The Loving, Laughing, and Dying EP was set to release on June, 8th. "The forces higher than" Mr. FijiWiji asked him to remove "Winter" from the EP and also remove it from YouTube because they proposed that it would encourage suicidal thoughts and tendencies. Mr. FijiWiji went to Facebook to share this:

The song was intended to comfort those with suicidal thoughts, and to be relatable to those in dark times. But they assured me that the track may harm someone due to my influence. It was suggested that the track maybe the catalyst in a despairing situation, and push someone to attempt suicide or harm themselves. "

Due to the struggles of censorship and annoyances encountered, he decided to release the EP on June 1st, a week early and to not remove "Winter" from the EP. Both songs are posted below.

SONG: TNGHT (Hudson Mohawke x Lunice) - Bugg'n

Scottish producer, Hudson Mohawke teams up with Canadian beatsmith Lunice to create an album called "TNGHT". When you bring HudMo's intergalactic instrumentals and you mix that with Lunice's electronic infused grimy hip hop beats, you get out-of-this-world bangers that will give you chills. While the album is set to drop in late July there are still a couple of songs that have been released to the public to stream. Check out the track "Bugg'n".

UPDATE: Lupe Fiasco - Food & Liquor II

Chicago MC, Lupe Fiasco recently announced the sequel to what is arguably his best album. Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1, is set to drop on September 25th. Two days ago, Lupe released his first single from the upcoming album called "Around My Way" which features the Pete Rock and C. L. Smooth instrumental for T.R.O.Y.. Due to the iconic status of this hip hop track there has been a lot of buzz floating around in regards to whether or not the beat should be touched or sampled. Lupe's rebuttal is ,"All the credit goes to my partner and manager Chill, he just felt like it was time to bring back a joint, go back and take one of the iconic records of Hip Hop and put a new spin on it and put it back out there." With this being said I am just glad that it is being redone by one of the best lyricists in hip hop. Better him before it is belittled by some clown dubstep DJ or or pop group.

Artist: Disclosure

These two brothers from the UK released their debut single on Moshi Moshi records in late September of 2010. Two years later they have a lot of buzz going around the web and a free EP out available via their Facebook page. I have selected a handful of my favorite tracks by Disclosure below.

ALBUM: Michael Kiwanuka - Home Again

May is going to be a great month. Michael Kiwanuka just released his debut album, "Home Again", on the first and it is just as amazing as I was hoping for. His nostalgic soul is the perfect remedy for my end-of-the-semester-finals stress. "Tell Me A Tale" below is a plea for help from God to show him the path to success. "Tell me a story that I can read, Tell me a story that I can believe. Turn me around so I can be, Everything I was meant to be. Lord I need Lovin'. Lord I need Lovin'".

The next track features Dan Auerbach from the Black Keys and is called "Lasan".

You can purchase the whole album for only $6.99 here on iTunes.

MIXTAPE: Logic - Young Sinatra: Undeniable

Maryland lyricist, Logic, literally does absolutely nothing but work on his music and study his game. I have witnessed the creation of a rap monster aspire into greatness by his talent and sickening work ethic. I must say, as I awoke and powered up my Macbook, I did my routine music release check and was most pleasantly surprised to see Logic's mixtape. After going through the tracks that I haven't already heard, I have come to the conclusion that it is my favorite hip hop mixtape since Drake's "So Far Gone". The release of this new mixtape has been crashing music sites and blogs all over due to the heavy traffic. Check out "Young Sinatra: Undeniable" below.

SONG: A$AP Rocky - Goldie

This New York born, Houston influenced rapper finally releases the first single from his long-awaited debut album, "LiveLongA$AP". A$AP Rocky is undoubtedly one of the hottest hip hop rookies in the game. Many rappers and hip hop enthusiasts were disappointed in XXL's decision to exclude Rocky from their 2012 Freshman Class. Nevertheless he is already skyrocketing to the top without even putting out an official album release. Feel free to download the new track, "Goldie", produced by Hit Boy.

SONG: Machinedrum and FaltyDL - Give In 2

FaltyDL and Machinedrum team up to formulate this ridiculously stimulating creation of bass and drums beating over the mellowly drowned loop of rain pouring from the sky. "Give In 2" begins with intermittent euphonic synthesizers until the drop at about a minute in. The collaborators prove what type of beauty is capable of being made at 300 beats per minute. This song progresses distinctively throughout its entirety. Definitely a song that I will be replaying often in the near future.

VIDEO: Evy Jane - Sayso

R&B and experimental electronica are two of my favorite genres of music but hearing them combined in one track can get interesting. It definitely isn't a simple feat to say the least. Vancouver duo, Evy Jane, have created a track that equally satisfies each of the genres seamlessly. "Didn't I tell you/ Not to be so kind to me?", lead singer, Evelyn Mason, sings in a droning haze of lost consciousness. One detail of "Sayso" that intrigued me was that every aspect of the song matches the meaning. As Evelyn sings about letting go of her man she makes her voice more distant. Also the repetitiveness of the chorus parallels quite nicely with the lyrics stating how she warned him repeatedly not to treat her so kindly. "There was something in the things you gave me/ I was losing all my self control."

This is definitely one of my favorite singles so far this year.

ARTIST: Josh Osho

At the young age of 20, wordsmith, Josh Osho has already begun to create a name for himself. His inspirational music and songwriting ability caught the ears of a singing competition called "Talent Lives". After a year or so of working with different artists and songwriting teams he was introduced to Island records. His debut album, L.I.F.E. was executive produced by RZA of the Wutang clan.

Although this London born singer/songwriter makes it look simple, he hasn't had an easy ride to where he is today. Check out his free EP below called Manifesto. Each track has a distinct uniqueness with captivating stories and lyrics that will capture any audience. Josh Osho is London's John Legend with a hint of Anthony Hamilton's southern blues feel.

SONG: Kotez - Life

Producer, Andrew Murray, grew up right in the middle of Manchester. Consequently, his love for electronic music blossomed him into the mastermind that he is now. Kotez began his career producing house, and trance until recently has he been focusing on dubstep. This track is not a brand new one from Kotez but it is one of the best electronic songs I have heard in a while. The balance is perfect between the buildup and the drops. Check out Life by Kotez below.

ALBUM: Andrew Bird - Break It Yourself

Break it Yourself is a melodic work of art with layers upon layers of instruments recorded together with such a distinct amount of precision and unity. Chicago-based artist, Andrew Bird, has a violin that is capable of singing to us in more tones than imaginable. While many may find his heavy emphasis on lyricism unpalatable, I find that even though the message and lyrics of his music may seem eccentric at first they are surprisingly more parallel with our own lives than we know.

On his leading single, "Eyeoneye", he says the words "No one can break my heart so I'll break it myself". This brings the old idea that in order to love, one must have loved and lost so that they have experienced the pleasure and pain. Is a heart with stitches a heart capable of a stronger or deeper love? Is it even possible to break your own heart? When you think about it is quite difficult or near impossible to do certain things to yourself. We are all aware of how much different it feels when we give ourself a massage or rub our hair instead of another person. This song sports an uptempo drum track with captivating lyrics that make it the lead single on Bird's album.

The first track is called "Desperation Breeds". What better way to start an album off than to express to the world your views on an ever-breeding species that exponentially augments idiocracy with each birth?

"We keep breeding desperation
In this era of thieves
Who keep stealing respiration
From the tenderest of trees

This peculiar incantation
Sure you heard it before
Instead of breeding desperation
Make me a pallet on your floor"

Even though the year just started we were fortunate enough to have February as a month of extraordinary music that spoiled us. With this being said, "Break It Yourself" is one already becoming one of my top albums thus far.

SONG: Stumbleine - Heart Shaped Locket (Essáy's Sunchain Remix)

Essáy is setting the bar high for explorations in the world of electronic music. This German producer creates audible masterpieces that he calls Emotional Electronica. This track is a remix to Stumbleine's song called Heart Shaped Locket which is equally as wonderful.

SONG: The 2 Bears Vs. House of House - Take a Look Around

New York City's own House of House came together to remix a track by The 2 Bears called, Take a Look Around. This dance remix in particular is quite intriguing due to its diverse uniqueness in styles. It is the perfect blend of NYC dance music and the UK dance scene. The beat, soul, and lyrics are infectious. Have a listen below. Feel free to check out House of House's Facebook page here.

SONG: Kendrick Lamar - Cartoon & Cereal ft. Gunplay

Kendrick Lamar is quickly becoming known as one of the most talented rappers in the industry. This song is one of my favorite songs so far in 2012. It is lyrically satisfying with a beat that forces you to bob your head. This Compton born and raised lyricist's uniqueness is so distinct and such a rarity that he seperates himself from the rest of the game with every verse. Kendrick Lamar is one of the reasons that while rap may be getting worse it is also getting much better...

 Just Listen.

This video fits well with the lyrics especially on Gunplay's last verse.

VIDEO: Poliça - Amongster

Polica started their band in June of 2011 and have added 3 members since then. This is the second single from their debut album, Give you The Ghost. Throughout the music video there is a graphical depiction of Adam & Eve making passionate love outside. The erotic visuals of sex are intertwined with vivid close-ups of exotic animals in nature. Somehow the director manages to turn you on while watching snakes, spiders, and insects. The build-up of the song and video match perfectly as the track reaches its "climax".

SONG: Metronomy - The Look (Two Inch Punch Shook Shook Rework)

Two Inch Punch just released a remix of Lianne La Havas' "Forget" and now he is right back at it with this remix to UK's urbane pop group, Metronomy. This remix deviates so perfectly from the original that it is almost as if both artists created two distinctly unique tracks. Have a listen below and feel free to download it.

SONG: Lana Del Rey x Smiler - Big Spender

If you have listened to Lana at all you know that her songs tend to be influenced by hip hop. It has become apparent a few days ago when this song finally leaked the internet. She sings the hook to Big Spender which is a track made by UK rapper, Smiler.

Lana is blowing up across the world as a top new pop singer. This may be foreshadowing of the direction of her music may take in the years to come.

This track will be appearing on Smiler's new mixtape which is set to release February 27th.

VIDEO: Logic - Spotlight

If you follow my blog then you know that one of my favorite new rappers is Logic. I have yet to hear a bad song from this Maryland DMV repper. Watch the top.... He will be there soon. Logic and the Rattpack are currently on tour right now in the Midwest.

VIDEO: Lips - Everything to Me (Adventure Club Remix)

Artists, Christian Srigley and Leighton James combine to create the dubstep duo, Adventure Club. Their remixes are slightly higher than the traditional dubstep 140 bpm tempo in order to add a club vibe. Consequently, they consider their music a unique spinoff of dubstep and club electro they like to call clubstep.

VIDEO: Common - Celebrate

Happy New Year to everybody! This is the perfect feel good song to listen to at the start off 2012. Common kills it it again with his new album "The Dreamer / The Believer" which is in stores now.
